Transformation Is 95% Logistics

Children playing soccer on a European street while adults walk ahead, capturing real-life movement and vision in action.

Every summer, I imagine spontaneous ice cream trips and endless hours outside.

And then… reality.

There are still schedules. Still responsibilities. Still the invisible logistics that make the beauty possible.

The Dream vs. The Logistics

I don’t know about you, but I so look forward to summer and imagine that every day will be spontaneous ice cream trips and endless hours outside.

And then…reality.

There are still schedules. Still responsibilities. Camp forms to complete and dishes in the sink.

If you know me, you know how much I love to travel. Lately, I’ve been on the road a lot: beautiful places, beautiful people, beautiful experiences. It looks dreamy on social media — and in many ways, it is.

And admittedly, there is still preparation, planning, and mental gymnastics to make it all work.

A client once told me after a concert date night with her partner:

“It still took energy to get a sitter, find tickets, and organize our week to make it work. The evening was wonderful — and it didn’t come without some stress.”

This reminds me of something my teacher often says:

Transformation is 95% logistics.

Building (and Sustaining) the Vision

If you want a life of joy, beauty, and connection, it doesn’t just appear.

You build it.
And then you sustain it.

Dreams don’t just come true; they are shaped through the small, invisible actions few people ever see.

This is the same principle I talk about in Even If You Know Which Ball to Set Down, Will You? — the quiet decisions that create capacity are often the ones that don’t get applause.

🏔️ There are logistics to reach the vision.
⭕️ And there are logistics to live inside of it.

Both require intention.

Grounding While Expanding

Yes, I’ve been hopping coastlines.

And I’ve also been setting alarms, packing snacks, and being intentional with some sort of morning routine to ground myself — even when my feet are thousands of miles from home.

Because without grounding, expansion gets wobbly.

This is why nervous system steadiness matters so much. When you’re regulated, you can hold both the beauty and the responsibility. (I explore this further in Why Your Leadership Operating System Needs an Upgrade.)

If your dream life feels a little wobbly right now, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

It means you’re human.

The Small Things That Sustain You

Keep showing up for the small things that sustain you.
That anchor you.
That let your dream expand beyond the moment into a way of life.

Because leadership — and life — isn’t just about casting the vision.

It’s about tending to the logistics that allow you to live inside of it.
